Incorrigible

A Poem

an amygdala

this love
was an act of shackling self

eyes squeezed shut
days squandered
as an incorrigible romantic

calling the pocket change of
your emotions enough to
fill a stubborn void

I,

unwilling to learn
an egregious student of life

unaware that on the other side
of this barbed wire fairy tale
was freedom.
