I’ve never actually sat down and contemplated the idea of “weaponized empathy,” but yeah you're right. Empathy does get weaponized, especially when it’s used against hard facts, which you discussed in the example of Trump’s implication that immigrants bring crime and violence on a disproportionate scale into our country.
