Street Pulpit

A Poem

an amygdala
1 min readAug 6, 2019

on the corner of Geary and Van Ness
a man attempts to proselytize
invisible people

forging atheists out of the wind
and willing them to become believers

he has potential, I think

if someone were to
suit and boot him up properly
announce him as a guest speaker

while hundreds of the hungry pious
watched

eyes as eager as a child’s mouth
poised under a withholding spout

he would be captivating

see,

you have to admit

there is a madness to it all.
