Success Comes Later from Making Better Choices Now

There is one piece of advice that I have heard from various successful people in different industries and stages of their lives. Over the last few years, I have found this piece of advice to also be quite helpful in my own personal and professional journey.

It goes like this: when big questions come up like what to invest your energy in, what your life goal is, what your dreams are, try another strategy instead of trying to come up with an answer right away.

That strategy is to start eliminating things that you’re already investing in that don’t matter to you.

Instead of spending your time lamenting about being in that position and that career, ask yourself what steps you can take to get out of that situation.

For example, if you’re spending time with people who don’t make you feel good about yourself or don’t contribute to your sense of fulfillment and general happiness, ask yourself why.

Why are you there? Why are you in their presence? Why are you spending time with them that you will never get back? Can you stop spending time with those people? Can you at least minimize the time you spend with them? Then do that.
