This is something I’ve told myself as well.

…h. The way I see the world, that means there was a fifty percent chance of letting a baby go hungry. Part of empathy means you accept the so-called risk of someone conning you out of twenty dollars. It’s a small cost.

This is something I’ve told myself as well. Once I accepted the risk that I was being duped, it made it easier to offer something when I could. Great post and well-articulated logic. Thanks for sharing!
